Treatment Descriptions
-
In this skilled manual therapy technique the Physiotherapist moves the joint surfaces in ways that you are unable to do voluntarily yourself, to decrease pain, reduce joint stiffness and restore pain free range of movement.
It is used to successfully treat many musculo-skeletal problems such as neck and back pain, shoulder and ankle dysfunction.
-
Fascia is a three-dimensional, sensing, connecting and structurally supportive connective tissue within our bodies.
Injury, trauma, inflammation, surgery and habitually poor posture can cause densification, dehydration and impaired gliding qualities, leading to restrictions in our fascia.
Myofascial release (MFR) is a gentle, hands-on technique using a ‘listening touch’ where the body sense is awakened and restrictions are released, bringing more efficient movement and a reduction or elimination of pain.
It is an all-encompassing approach treating the whole body and person presenting with early, recurring or persistent pain symptoms.
MFR can be used to treat a very wide range of conditions such as back and neck pain, headaches, shoulder problems, leg injuries, fibromyalgia and scar tissue adhesions post surgery.
Releasing the restrictions can allow your body to heal and bring long lasting changes to posture, movement and wellbeing. Self care, fascial stretches and exercise, complement the treatment.
